Halloween How to: Beyonce as Frida Kahlo

Mexican artist Frida Kahlo’s iconic look makes for a very chic and high-brown Halloween costume. Known for her fusion of colourful clothing and crowns, surreal self-portraits and of course her most distinctive feature - the unibrow, many have attempted to recreate Frida's iconic look, but none better than Beyonce.
Beyonce, who teamed up with Blue and Jay (who went as a very convincing Jean-Michel Basquiat,) nailed the look in a purple maxi dress, tropical flower crown and a serious dose of blusher. Though she didn’t exactly don the full unibrow, her Frida-esque makeup was on another level, paying perfect homage to the original beauty.
Here's how to achieve Bey’s Frida look, in a few quick and easy steps.
1. The Base
First of all, make sure you have a flawless base by laying down Ellis Faas’ Skin Veil Foundation and conceal any blemishes and dark circles with the Ellis Faas concealer pen.
2. The Eyes
Once you have the perfect base, grab an eye shadow quad with some shimmering
warm colours like SUQQU’s gorgeous Blend Colour Eyeshadow in 32 Rengazome, or MAC's Burgundy Times Nine. Dipping a fluffy crease brush into the golden, rusty red shade, swipe it all over the lid blending outwards towards the crease. You can be as messy as you want with this as it’s meant to be smokey! If in doubt, just keep blending until there are no harsh lines. Using the same brush, blend this shade under your lower lash line as well.
Next, dip a small pencil brush into the gold shade and place the colour in your inner corners; and don’t forget to add your favourite black mascara. Benefit’s Roller Lash is a classic choice, and you can mix up your volume and length with L.A.B.2’s Mascara Wands.
3. The Blush
For the quickest and easiest part of the look, grab a big fluffy blush brush, like M.A.C’s 120 and dab it into a bright red blush, such as the SUQQU Pure Colour Blush in 03 Sumiasayake – a blend of stunning gradient coral shades. (If you're looking for something a little warmer, opt for Charlotte Tilbury's Cheek to Chic in Ecstasy.)
Starting at the outer edges of your eyes, blend the colour from the tops of your cheekbones down to the apples of your cheeks in circular motions.
With the same brush, add a dash of the colour just where the arches of your brows are and blend down towards your cheekbones.
4. The Brows
Firstly, fill in your brows as you normally would, following your natural shape. You can do this with a brow pencil or a brow shadow such as the SUQQU Balancing Eyebrows Palette. Next, using a liquid brow product with a fine precision tip, such as the award winning Eyebrow Liquid Pen by SUQQU, flick the pen in upward motions over you filled in brow, making the flicks a little longer than your natural shape to get the effect of individual brushed up hairs. Brush through with a spoolie and clear brow gel.
5. The Lips
Finally, coat your lips with a deep burgundy shade such as SUQQU’s Creamy Glow Lipstick in Ichijiku, or Nars’ Semi Matte Lipstick in 413 BLKR and your look is complete.
