5 Fresh Ways To Incorporate Plaits
Plaits have officially made their comeback - and it's not just pigtails and French braids either. Turns out, there are plenty of fresh ways to incorporate the schoolgirl go-to into your lockdown hairstyles so you have them mastered for when spring/summer arrives.
From face-framing baby braids to a modern take on the high pony, this is how to tackle the biggest hair trend of right now.
The mini braids
For plaits that feel totally 2021, take notes from the likes of Dua Lipa and Champagne Mani, by taking thin pieces of hair from each side of your face and braiding them. You can tie these with a small elastic or, our favourite thing to do is actually leave them untied for a look that feels extra nonchalant.
The high pony
A hairstyle that is all over our feeds right now is the plait pony. It’s super easy to master and quickly elevates an otherwise basic hairstyle. You can make this one more sleek and perfected if that’s your thing or throw it together messily if quick and easy is your motive.
The pigtails
If you’re looking to avoid any unnecessary heat damage before your long-awaited return to the salon, pigtail braids are probably your best bet to keep you feeling put together. They’ll swiftly get your hair out of your face for one day and leave you with some subtle waves for the next. Win win.
The French
When opting for a French braid this season, the trick is to go loose. Try to avoid pulling tight at the hair when plaiting and allow for some front pieces of hair to fall out at the front. This way you’re left with a style that feels authentically Parisian and isn’t as time consuming to achieve.
The side braid
So Serena on Gossip Girl, the side braid is set to be a strong contender for this summer’s biggest hair trend. Leaving plenty of room for experiment, it’s easy to make this style your own and a great option for any night out post June 21st.
