LFW SS17 Beauty Roundup
Skin was so in on London’s SS17 runways, with dewy clean faces cropping up everywhere. Faint blushed cheeks, powder pink lids and nude lips were featured on the runways of: Christopher Kane, Burberry Prorsum, Paul Smith, J.W. Anderson and Mulberry.
In fact, youthful, radiant skin is on everyone’s radar for spring and summer ’17, with most of us falling back in love with a sheer and natural complexion, over the full coverage and slightly cakey look of years gone. But Fashion Week is also never too shy of an out-of-the-box beauty moment. The LFW look which excited us paid homage to bold summer hues, from intense blues, meadow greens, and tangy oranges, to hot pinks and lilacs.
Here are some of our SS17 runway beauty picks that go from fresh and glowing, to gothic glam:
1. Super Soft Focus At Emilio De La Morena
Of all the clean, radiant and feminine looks this season, Emilio De La Morena was one to get it so effortlessly right. Models wore a monochrome pretty-in-pink glow on cheeks, lips and eyes, complimented with a low messy bun and wispy cascading curls to go with his candy coloured pieces and flirty tulle frills. So sweet and so fresh.
2. Floral Gardens At Preen By Thornton Bregazzi
One of our absolute favourite looks from SS17 has to be Preen’s stunning use of real flowers. Having conquered the super clean radiant skin look of summer, Preen went the extra mile and sprinkled their models in a mix of colourful petals and flowers, making them look like fluttering woodland fairies. Daisies, Violets and Freesias curled around models’ faces, necks and backs, forming perfect floral accessories for Preen’s flowing, feminine pieces.
3. Mellow Green Eyes and Tango Lids At Versus Versace
The house of Versace channelled gritty London cool with striking colour this season, painting mellow green and tangy bright orange on the eyes with a rock chic laissez-faire. The bold look went down a treat with their army green biker jackets and tangerine trench coats, as did the belt buckle chokers; the perfect accompaniment to their signature bad girl vibe.
4. Sunset Eyes And Cheeks At Richard Malone
Fashion East’s Richard Malone was another one to get in on the orange love boat, giving his models sunset ombre eyes and cheeks. Makeup artist Megumi Matsuno designed the bold look to go with Malone’s sporty block coloured pieces, leaving models looking like they had emerged from a sun-soaked fiesta.
5. All Aboard the Glossy Dream Boat At Sadie Williams
Sadie Williams’ beauty looks were a gorgeous reflection of her nighttime-at-sea inspired collection. Black eye shadow was heavily smoked and wrapped around the eyes, with a thick wet gloss slicked over top, to give a shimmering dark water effect. Skin was kept glossy and full of sheen and lips left naturally nude.
6. Gothic Glam Biro Blue At Fyodor Golan
Fyodor Golan went cyber-babe gothic glam this season, opting for a biro blue lip and bold or bleached eyebrows, to match with oversized costume jewels. Though an unusual look for summer, the fun statement colour is a look to note for upcoming autumn/winter festivities. Keeping in line with the fresh-faced skin craze, skin was left seemingly untouched and eyes nude.
