We Love Simone Rocha's Red Lips for SS17
It seems crazy to say it, but Spring really is around the corner. After months of nudes, we’re looking forward to rocking a red lip again; and we have Simone Rocha to thank.

The beauty look at Simone Rocha for SS17 was so majestic. There was something very regal about it, but also very tangible; with delicate dampened strands of hair framing the sides of models’ faces, and the rest of their locks neatly braided into ponytails. Their skin was flawless, but the star of the show had to be the lips, which were painted a deliciously juicy red.
The inspiration for the show was an art exhibition at the National Gallery of Ireland, where photographs of African agricultural workers by Jackie Nickerson hung next to 20th century paintings of convent girls and 18th century Old Masters' paintings. The show was set in London’s Southwark Cathedral, and the beauty looks tied in effortlessly with Rocha’s sheer organza and tulle pieces, embroidered with frills and florals - all with a totally romantic Victoriana feel.
Though its always likely to find a staple red lip on a Fashion Week runway, makeup extraordinaire Sam Bryant created the ultimate ‘no frills’ red lip – luscious, but understated. She gave models’ skin a nourished glow and brushed up brows, before applying MAC’s Lip Pencil in Redd on primed lips, and layering MAC’s Retro Matte Liquid Lip in Feel So Grand on top. To finish, she topped the whole lot with a thick clear gloss. Of course, it wouldn’t have been a dewy look without a sliver of highlight on cheekbones and the bridge of the nose.
